Exploring who we truly are can be one of the most beautiful things we ever do for ourselves. At the same time it can be frightening, but it's an exploration that can serve us. When there's a disconnect between who we think we are and who we truly are, an imbalance is created because our body, mind, and spirit want to be in harmony with who we truly are. So if you're interested, let's see who you think you are.
Find a piece of paper and fold it in half length-wise. At the top of one half write out "Who I think I am". Take a moment to list out all the things you think you are. Take your time and be complete. Did you come up with a list of titles such as mother, daughter, wife, caretaker? Perhaps you listed out your career title as who you think you are; or you think of yourself as a list of activities you do during the day such as maid, cook, taxi driver - all the things that take up your time. Do you think you're too fat, too short, too anything else? Now, flip the paper over to the other half and at the top write "Who I truly am". Create a list of who you are from the perspective of the Self inside you; that part of you that is eternally loving and sacred. It may be easier if you think of God, Source, or the Divine writing this list for you. From this sacred place, who are you? Did you come up with the same list? I expect not. We are so much more than who we think we are. We are love, we are divine, we are sacred. Each breath we take wants to lead us toward a place of harmony. Our bodies seek harmony. They seek balance of body, mind, and spirit. When you identify with who you think you are, you're not only missing out on the juiciness of life, but you're also not recognizing the beauty of who you truly are. You are so much more than the day to day you. Can you allow yourself to think big? To see yourself as a manifestation of pure love? It's who you truly are. Perhaps it's time to step out of the mundane and step into the ever expansive love that is you.
