Writing Gateless
The Gateless Method, founded by Suzanne Kingsbury, is a methodology based on her research around "brain science, ancient Zen, and craft tools to move you beyond the conditioned, critical mind to a place of limitless creative potential and beyond."
As a trained Gateless Writing teacher, I use the Gateless method in my workshops. Each workshop starts with an embodiment meditation followed by 20 - 30 minutes of writing to a prompt. What's exciting about this short amount of time for writing is there's no time for thinking, no time for the ego to get involved. You just write. Words become sentences and sentences become paragraphs flowing onto the page. And, no matter the experience level, everyone in the workshop is in the same boat. Everyone writes new material (unless the purpose of the workshop is stated differently). Then we read.

When it's your turn to read, you just read. No justifying, no explaining. Just read what you've written. It's the same for everyone. The best part? Once you've read, you get to sit back and take in the feedback as those in the circle share what they love about your piece, what's powerful, what speaks to them. It's an empowering experience for you the writer, you the listener, and for those giving feedback because we have all been a witness to your writing. More information will be available in the writing circle as we create a sacred space for the written word.
If you'd like to give writing a try or would simply like more writing time, I encourage you to sign up for a workshop. All you need is a pen and paper or your computer (with a reasonable internet connection) and 90 minutes in a quiet space where you won't be interrupted (which for some writers is in their car, the bathroom, or a closet). :)
Workshop participants have varying degrees of writing ability from someone who's maybe interested in writing to published authors. Each workshop offers a unique writing experience.
