Turmeric Ginger Tea

Turmeric is known for its many health benefits. As a spice it can be used in a variety of recipes, but two great ways to get turmeric into your diet is with these beverages both of which use Golden Paste as their base.

Golden Paste
1/2 cup organic turmeric powder
1 cup water
1.5 t fine grind black pepper
5 T
virgin coconut oil

In a stainless steel pot, cook the turmeric and black pepper in the water until it forms a thick paste, stirring with a metal spoon and cooking for about 4 - 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and add virgin coconut oil, using a whisk to fully mix in the coconut oil.  Transfer the Golden Paste into a glass jar with a lid, and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Makes about 1 1/2 cups. Turmeric does stain so be careful.

Turmeric Ginger Tea
Place a heaping teaspoon of Golden Paste into a mug and pour boiling water over it. Stir to blend. Add ginger (grated, powdered, or juice), sweetener (honey, maple syrup, stevia), and a dash of milk according to your taste. This tea will warm you up and it is so delicious!

Cold Turmeric Drink
Add enough boiling water to cover 1 heaping teaspoon of Golden Paste in a heavy glass or mug. Stir the Golden Paste until blended. Fill the glass the rest of the way with cold water (or organic coconut water). Stir in a teaspoon of ginger (grated, powdered, or juice), 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (organic with the mother). I also add Ceylon cinnamon and a dash of cayenne to the Golden Paste before adding the hot water. Each of these ingredients is optional, I add them all. This drink will separate in the glass, so you'll need to stir it often.
