Are You Losing Your Mind?

"I'm losing my mind," I sighed to myself.
"Is that a bad thing?" I heard in reply.
I thought about this for a moment and I realized that no, it wasn't a bad thing, in fact, it was good thing! 
When we throw our hands up and say "I'm losing my mind" it's often in disgust or in concern that we're going crazy. But I'm going to offer that the notion "I'm losing my mind" is really rather profound.
Thoughts, which live in the mind, are often the ego struggling to survive. The ego isn't always bad and in need of being obliterated. It has its place. But if you believe every thought it sends your way, you may not be living your life, but rather that of the ego. 
If you think you're losing your mind, I say brava because you're stepping away from a thought that has owned you. If you can explore the thought that came before the thought that you're losing your mind, you'll find a very interesting place to explore.Is that thought true? Does it serve you or the situation you're in?
My sense is you'll find that it is not and it does not.
Allow yourself to see this as a time when life is asking you to move away from the rote beliefs that you hold and create new ones that align with your truth. In science it's called creating new neural pathways.
We can all do it. Be a witness to your thoughts instead of a slave. Once you are conscious of your thoughts you can then decide which to keep or if you want to create a new one. Let it be your choice. As with most change, creating new neutral pathways can take time, but it can be done.
The next time you hear yourself say "I'm losing my mind" consider it an invitation to explore. You might take yourself places you never could have imagined!
