Argh. I went to see the Barbie movie last week and that song the Kens sing to all the Barbies started floating around in my head. As I have mentioned in the past I have a positive, life affirming song that I use as a replacement whenever this kind of situation presents itself. But oh my gosh. “I’m going to push you around, yes I will, yes I will” “I am sacred, you are sacred, we are sacred ones”. After a few rounds, my life affirming song takes over and is fully in my head. I’m so grateful I have my go-to song. Can you imagine if I didn’t? Repeating Ken’s amazingly catchy tune over and over would start to imbed itself in my subconscious and once there, it can start to inform – subconsciously – my thoughts and actions. Not. What. I. Want. Have you ever experienced this? Maybe not with a song but with commercials or even with a comment someone has made to you? Perhaps someone made a snarky comment that shows up when you least expect it. Something like, “did you intend to color your hair that color?” or “oh my gosh, I can’t believe you thought that was a good idea!” You get my drift. These are comments that the giver just says and forgets about while you, the receiver, holds onto it. Whenever you’re in need a dose of ‘I’m not good enough’ it shows up in spades and takes you down with it. What to do… The first step is catching yourself. So many times, we have things swirling in our heads that we have no awareness of, they have free reign and take full advantage of it. Know what your thoughts are and bring them into your conscious awareness. When you’re aware of your thoughts, you can start to see if it’s a thought you want to support, explore, or release. Sometimes it helps to find the origin of the thought that you want to explore or release. And here’s a hint, that’s usually the way to go. Once you find the origin, you can decide if it has no place in your life and you can let it go. A thought has power whether you're aware of it or not. Other thoughts we may have that we're unconscious about are stock phrases. These are so common they roll off the tongue without any thought at all. Phrases like: “I’m always sick.” “I’m so fat.” “I can’t do anything right.” “I can’t believe it.”
What’s important here is to look at what you’re saying and understanding that what you say repeatedly turns into you. If you say “I’m always sick,” then guess what? The phrase that we probably all use is “I can’t believe it!” when something good happens. This doesn’t appear on the surface to be a phrase we’d want to reframe, but it is. When you receive something you’ve wanted for a long time and you say “I can’t believe it!” out of excitement, what you’re really saying is you can’t believe you deserve it or you can't believe you manifested it. Leave out the can’t and simply say “I believe it!” It’s an entirely different energy. Our thoughts are important. Becoming consciously aware of your thoughts creates space to release those thoughts that don’t support a higher vision for yourself. If you’re wondering where to begin, start with your next thought. And remember, these words: “I am sacred, you are sacred, we are sacred ones.” You are sacred. Believe it!
