Eating to Nourish

I love food and as much as I try to eat healthy, I do miss the mark sometimes. I mean, ice cream is a gift from the gods is it not? 😊

In my quest to eat healthy foods, I've found there's one thing that really gets me a bit riled up and that is how much stuff that’s sold to us as food really isn’t food at all.

We eat to nourish our bodies so they can have the energy they need to function – for cellular growth and repair and all the bazillion things a body does.

Your body can’t get that energy on its own, you’re the one who needs to supply it.

Not all foods are equal though and looking at a nutrient label may not give you all the information you need.
Food has an energetic component that can support your health and well-being, or challenge it. Food that is naturally grown in the earth will have a high energetic composition that supports the body beautifully. The food’s connection to the energies of the earth feed the body and connect it to Gaia. Including high-quality foods in your diet is energetically uplifting and nourishing to the body.

On the other hand, food made in a factory is devoid of any nutrition. Ultra-processed food is energetically dead with no life-giving attributes. Even though the product has a nutrient label, ultra-processed foods are processed beyond recognition, mainly composed of chemicals, and designed to make you want to eat them – a lot.

Corn chips, for example, are processed to the point where the only thing that resembles corn is the label on the bag. Eating chips offers the body nothing since they’re lifeless extruded shapes with chemical flavoring. In my opinion, the only energy in ultra-processed foods is that of greed which doesn’t support either your health or your well-being.

As an experiment, the next time you’re at the grocery store, notice how you feel as you walk around the store gathering ingredients into your cart for homemade burritos, as an example. Notice how it feels to know you’ll be making something from scratch with your hands. You know exactly what ingredients are going into them. Now go stand in front of the frozen burritos. Do you get the same feeling in your body? When you look at the ingredients list, you’ll see why you feel that way.

I’m not sure you need to remove every single bag of chips, cookies, cereals, or other highly processed snack foods from your cupboards, but it might be interesting to see what kind of energy you’re putting into your body.

And for sure we don’t all have access to organic food or food grown bio-diversely. But when we do the best we can by purchasing the highest quality food we can afford and preparing our food with the energy of love and attention, I believe our bodies will feel nourished from the effort.

Being mindful of what you’re eating can be a great first step in nourishing your body and helping to bring it into balance.

Your body needs you to make choices that support life.
