Are Toxins Running Your Life?

11/25/2018

Do you spend a fair amount of time thinking about environmental toxins; GMOs, pesticides, water sources, pollution and so on? Keeping the body free from these environmental toxins is important, but there's another kind of toxin that I believe we also need to pay attention to.
Our thoughts.
Thoughts of fear, worry, hate (both of self and another), not being enough, not feeling worthy - these can actually be as damaging, if not more so, than environmental toxins. Why? Because we don't think of them as toxic and damaging. We think of them as just the way things are.
If we were to stop and look at our thoughts, we might start to see that the things we believe, or that we think we believe, aren't even our original thoughts - they are inherited either through family, what we read, or what we see on television. We then unknowingly give them permission to stay.
Think you're too fat? Why do you think that? Did someone tell you you were too fat? Did you read an article that talked about being fat or the benefits of being thin? Do the actors or actresses on television have a better life than you because they are thin?
Have you unknowingly made this information part of your belief system? How do these thoughts make you feel? Are you a better person because of them? Do you love yourself more because of them? Do they leave you with self-loathing and feelings of low self-esteem?
What about worry? Are you a better person because you worry? Does your worry and fear of the worst make you or the person you worry about actually better? Probably not. Worry is a form of fear and its toxic because it takes you away from love.
Fear and love cannot coexist, it's one or the other. Which do you choose?
Just because a thought has always been with you doesn't mean it needs to stay.
If you're concerned about pesticides in your food for example and choose not to eat that food, you don't. Or perhaps you'll go on a detox program to eliminate the toxins in your body. You have free will which means you can make choices. You can do the same with your thoughts. If your thoughts are toxic, then let them go. Go on a mental detox and choose love over fear. Choose kind thoughts, kind words, kind actions.
You are worth it.
In love and light,
Deborah

Thoughts are things. As soon as I realized that and worked on becoming aware of thoughts, my life changed for the better. Thank you for your thoughtful, wise and important article.

I agree - being aware of our thoughts is an incredible experience. We have so darn many of them and what I've found is that most are a just a distraction. Thank you Judy for sharing that thoughts are things.
