This smoothie is loaded with nutrients to start your day. It contains only those things you want in your body. I enjoy this tasty smoothie for breakfast to get a kick-start on the day!
Feel free to add in or take out ingredients. This list is just a primer to get you started!
4 oz coconut milk, almond milk, or other milk alternative 4 oz water 1 teaspoon ground flax seeds* 1 teaspoon hemp seeds 2 Tablespoons chia seeds, soaked** handful or two of organic baby spinach leaves 1/4 cup of organic blueberries, frozen or fresh 2 tablespoons raw, organic, cacao powder 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder dash black pepper (it's a carrier for the turmeric) 1/4 teaspoon organic Ceylon cinnamon kelp powder 1/4 avocado or a drizzle of olive oil
Combine the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
*Grind flax seeds prior to use, in other words, try not to purchase already ground flax seeds. I generally grind up a few tablespoons in a nut grinder and store them in a glass jar for up to a week in the refrigerator although it's best to grind and use them right away.
** I soak my chia seeds in water to plump them up before using in a recipe. Simply take 1/4 cup of chia seeds and soak them in 1 to 1 1/2 cups of water in a glass jar (allow for expansion). Stir them gently every 5 minutes or so for about 15 minutes and then let them do their thing. They'll be ready in about a 1/2 hour and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Bring ingredients to room temperature and chew your smoothie for maximum benefit!
